Position DescriptionThe Department of Comprehensive Dentistry at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Professor (Open Rank) Term - Comprehensive Dentistry position. The successful applicant will be joining a department committed to a high-quality educational program. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Faculty practice opportunities are available. Qualified applicants should submit a current curriculum vitae and two professional letters of recommendation.
The position calls for an experienced and mature mentor with recognized interpersonal skills who can provide an evidence-based approach to post-graduate education and clinical care. The candidate must be committed to teaching and developing our residents in providing full-scope quality clinical care to our patients in a hospital-based environment. The selected individual will have primary responsibility to support the General Practice Residency Program (GPR) Director in the recruitment, training, and supervision of postgraduate students specializing in Advanced Dental Education Program in General Practice Residency within CMPD.
Specific duties include assisting in program administration, curriculum development and implementation, ongoing CQI in resident performance and faculty teaching proficiency, overseeing off-site rotations, maintenance of records related to the educational program, and resident selection. This individual will assist in ensuring that the program is in full compliance with ULH and ULSD policies and provide the School of Dentistry administration with feedback on program progress.
- Be responsible for teaching both didactic and clinical coursework and provide clinical supervision of GPR residents
- Based on departmental needs, provide didactic and clinical instruction to undergraduate (DMD) students.
- Show a commitment to dental education and a willingness to participate in scholarship and service activities
- Applicants must possess a DMD, DDS, or equivalent degree and be eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
- Completion of General Practice Residency (GPR) Program or Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD).
- ACLS certified to provide IV conscious sedation (or willingness to pursue training)
- Experience providing dental care within a hospital operating room
- Demonstrated clinical excellence through their previous work
