Third Grade Elementary Teacher Louisville Classical Academy A small, independent, secular class

Louisville Classical Academy is a small, independent, and secular classical school located in the Highlands neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky. Our average class size is eight students.

We are seeking a passionate elementary teacher for our 3rd grade classroom who is also interested in helping develop our elementary curriculum.

Principal duties include but are not limited to:

• Teaching a variety of subjects with a strong emphasis on building foundational skills (literacy, number fluency, and eagerness to follow directions)
• Approximately 25 instructional hours with 2.5 hours of supervisory duties per week
• Varying instructional technique from lecture to call-and-response to educational play and other methods as appropriate
• Engaging students in a rigorous curriculum with strong emphasis on memorization, drills, and a love of structure, including phonics-based literacy instruction
• Maintaining classroom discipline while still promoting a love of learning
• Communicating with families concerning student progress and completing student evaluations

Minimum requirements are a Bachelor’s degree, one year of teaching experience, familiarity with independent schools, and the ability to connect with students. Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and the ability and desire to work collaboratively are essential. Ideal candidates will have 3+ years teaching experience and a willingness to facilitate extracurricular activities.

Schedule and hours:
August through June, Monday to Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
