Internship Coordinator
KyCAD would like to announce a new position in the capacity of Part-time Internship Coordinator for the Academic Year, from September 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027. This position is open to internal and external applications.
Position Description: Under the direction of the Dean/VPAA, the Internship Coordinator would have the opportunity to oversee students enrolled in their mandatory Capstone course, CAP 320:
Internship.
Schedule: This is a part-time faculty position that requires regular, on-site availability during weekdays, Monday - Friday between the hours of 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. Schedule to be determined by direct supervisor. Average workload is estimated at 8–10 hours per week. Actual days and times of availability needed may be subject to change based on the needs of students and the institution.
Compensation: This is a part-time, non-exempt (hourly) faculty position. Paid at a rate of $25/hour based on time worked.
Course Description: CAP 320:
Internship
3 credits
Internship provides students with valuable exposure to a relevant field of their choice. By exploring one trajectory of their studio practice, the Internship provides hands-on awareness and direct experience. Students are required to complete a minimum of 50 hours on-site, supervised and mentored by professionals in the field. In addition, students will keep a journal, produce a written reflection, and communicate with the course instructor outside of the classroom setting.
Site supervisors will provide evaluations and reviews. This course may be repeated up to 3 times with permission of the instructor.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain database of appropriate internship sites throughout the greater Louisville area.
- Teach to the objectives of the approved curriculum.
- Submit syllabi and other instructional materials in a timely manner.
- Maintain records of student academic progress and attendance, evaluate the level of achievement, and assign grades for the program.
- Collect and organize student interest forms to placement database.
- Complete an on-site assessment prior to all internship agreements.
- Draft and initiate affiliation agreements.
- Complete Risk Assessment Reports.
- Conduct Mid-term Site Visits.
- Maintain regular communication with students and, when appropriate, use the Academic Alert notification process.
- Assess student work in a timely manner and submit course grades by the posted deadline.
- Facilitate Supervisor and Student Evaluations at close of Internship.
- Complete Annual Internship Learning Outcomes Report.
- Prepare annual college-wide presentation on Internship experiences.
- Incorporate inclusive and effective teaching methods/styles that support successful learning appropriate to a diverse student population.
- Infuse multicultural and diverse perspectives into the instructional process as appropriate and conduct classes in a manner that demonstrates respect for individual and cultural differences.
- Model and cultivate open-minded inquiry, an appreciation for diverse perspectives, and creative problem-solving.
- Develop and maintain healthy and positive working relationships with students, staff, faculty, and administration.
- Embrace and enhance the college's culture to help ensure continued engagement, motivation, and drive.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in fine arts or Master's degree with minimum of 18 graduate course credit hours in Studio, Art History, or Arts Management.
- Preferred teaching experience: 3 years.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Evidence of teaching ability, curricular development, and scholarship.
- Sensitivity and ability to successfully interact with diverse populations.
- Availability to work assigned schedule on-site.
