Job Description
We are seeking student‑focused, compassionate para‑educators to fill ECE Instructional Assistant positions for the 2026‑2027 school year.
Information regarding Exceptional Child Education (ECE) classroomsExceptional Child Education programs are designed to meet the needs of students whose approach to learning differs from that of their peers. The district is committed to providing a high‑quality education for students with disabilities. A variety of programs, techniques, methods, and materials are available and utilized for individualized instruction. ECE programs are provided to students with disabilities in both comprehensive and special education facilities.
Assignments may include students with moderate to severe disabilities, mild mental disabilities, other health impairments, emotional‑behavioral disabilities, autism, visual impairment, hearing impairment, learning disabilities, social communication or a combination of each area. Changes in assignment or ECE designation may occur during a school year due to student and classroom needs or between school years when ECE allocations are reviewed.
- Assist in implementing each student’s individual education plan.
- Help establish and maintain a pleasant, safe, and structured learning environment.
- Display willingness and aptitude to work with students with disabilities.
- Provide physical assistance with positioning, toileting, and lifting as needed.
- Attend district ECE in‑service training for professional growth.
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Passing score on the Kentucky Para educator Exam (KPA) or 48 college semester hours.
- Willingness and aptitude to work with students with disabilities.
- Physical ability to assist with positioning, toileting, and lifting of students.
- Effective communication skills.
- If your highest education is High School or GED, you must take and pass the Kentucky Para educator Assessment Exam.
- Applicants with transcripts obtained outside the U.S. must have their credentials evaluated before being referred for vacancies.
