JOB SUMMARYWe are seeking candidates who will continue building upon our incredibly strong program, teaching and training in accordance with the Minnesota Conference Guidelines. Anyone hired would also be expected to achieve a strong balance across the three domains of teaching, scholarship, and service. First, they will be strong clinician-educators who utilize best practices in teaching and enjoy student mentoring. Ideally, they will also be competent in supervision and support neuropsychological training within our department training clinic, the Center for Behavioral Health.
Second, they will be thoughtful scholars with either a record of presenting and/or publishing in their chosen research interest areas or demonstrated promise to do so. Third, they will possess strong interpersonal skills and a cooperative spirit to work collegially with others on university and departmental service committees. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology, either with or immediate eligibility for licensure in KY as a psychologist.
Excellent early career candidates will be considered, with mentorship and supervision provided if needed for licensure. The position offers scheduling flexibility (other than class times) and faculty members are encouraged to use up to eight hours per week in research, consultation, direct service (e.g. private practice) and/or supervision. Opportunities are available to engage in direct service as part of our Faculty Practice Plan, where faculty can see their own private practice clients in the Center for Behavioral Health.
Additional contract supervision for doctoral students on practicum may also be available.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Teach six graduate courses in the School of Professional Psychology, including the four Neuropsychology Emphasis Area classes
Develop or continue a scholarship interest area (and create opportunities to mentor students in their own scholarship)
Contribute service to the department and university (e.g., active participation on committees)
Mentor students’ dissertation research
Assist with the development and maintenance of neuropsychology practicum sites
Attend faculty and departmental meetings and events
Assist with recruitment and retention of students SKILLS, EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Must hold a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited program
Must be license eligible or hold a valid license as a psychologist in Kentucky with designation for supervision or working toward it (i.e., HSP designation)
Teaching and supervision experience strongly preferred, but not required
Established research interests strongly preferred, but not required
Must have strong interpersonal skills
Must have strong oral and written communication skillsINTERRELATIONSMust have an appreciation and respect for the diverse, intersecting identities of students and colleagues
Will have regular contact with administration, faculty, staff, and students
