Join the Technology HVAC team as a Principal Advanced Systems Engineer. This opportunity is for an engineer to develop new innovative products and new technologies to support our growing HVAC business.

Principal Advanced Systems Engineer - Air & Water
Location:
USA, Louisville, KY
- Experienced HVAC systems Engineer with 10+ years of industry experience.
- Product generalist with proficient in overall architecture strategy. Understands all subsystems, modules, and critical components. Ability to independently develop subsystems based on product requirements.
- Support development of new Unitary AC and HP systems for the North American market.
- Lead simulation effort to develop AEDMs to support product certified and extended product ratings.
- System Thinking – Full understanding of HVAC functionality & performance “levers”.
- Able to understand and anticipate subsystem level interactions and their impact on overall architecture.
- Regulatory Items – Understanding of product impacts of regulatory requirements as it pertains to ASHRAE, DOE, and AHRI standards.
- Competitive Analysis – Basic knowledge of the HVAC competitive landscape.
- Applies systems knowledge to assess bugs discovered in an application and understands consumer impact, likelihood of occurrence, and overall exposure.
- Expert knowledge of product function & performance tuning through parametric data. Leverage knowledge to improve diagnostic outcomes.
- Full understanding of product subsystem architecture and interfaces. Leverage knowledge to improve performance and diagnostic features.
- Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent technical degree. 10+ years’ experience in product design and development.
- Minimum 10 years relevant HVAC engineering experience.
- Experience specifying and designing components for HVAC equipment.
- Understand performance levers to optimize system operation.
- Experience using sensor inputs and outputs to develop operational algorithms.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills with a passion for learning.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional organization.
- Ability to design, build, and execute a test plan and clearly present data to a diverse group and openly debate technical issues.
- Ability to work in a global environment.
- Fluent use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word software packages.
- Domestic travel required, 0-5%
- China travel required, 0-5%
- Expertise in Applied HVAC products.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Vision for developing new product strategies.
- Expertise with Heat Exchanger Design
