The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement activities supporting galvanizing line operations within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. This role is accountable for safety, equipment reliability, cost control, and team development while ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader with strong technical depth, a structured approach to maintenance strategy, and the ability to drive sustainable operational performance.

Key Responsibilities Safety & Compliance Leadership
  • Champion a strong safety culture focused on injury prevention, housekeeping, and operational discipline.
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety standards.
  • Lead safety audits, investigations, and corrective action implementation.
Maintenance & Reliability Management
  • Direct all maintenance activities for galvanizing line equipment, including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Improve equipment reliability through failure analysis, root cause investigations, and structured corrective actions.
  • Manage spare parts strategy, critical inventory levels, and equipment lifecycle planning.
  • Oversee maintenance KPIs, workforce utilization, and technical training programs.
  • Lead capital project execution (CAPEX) in collaboration with Engineering and Operations.
Quality & Operational Support
  • Ensure maintenance practices support compliance with applicable industry and internal quality standards (including ASTM).
  • Partner with Engineering and Production teams to resolve equipment‑related quality or process issues.
  • Support uptime, throughput, and product integrity goals.
Cost & Resource Management
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, consumables, and maintenance‑related expenditures.
  • Implement cost‑reduction and efficiency initiatives without compromising safety or reliability.
  • Track and improve cost‑per‑ton, downtime costs, and waste metrics.
  • Lead, coach, and develop maintenance supervisors, technicians, and planners.
  • Conduct performance reviews, skills assessments, and targeted training plans.
  • Build a high‑accountability team culture aligned with operational goals.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment performance, maintenance effectiveness, and process optimization.
  • Apply structured problem‑solving tools to eliminate recurring failures.
  • Support Lean manufacturing and reliability‑centered maintenance (RCM) efforts.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance strategies, reliability principles, and asset management.
  • Experience using CMMS platforms and strong proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and problem‑solving capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automation Engineering.
  • Prior hands‑on mechanical or electrical maintenance experience in heavy manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar technical software.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or reliability programs.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
