About the Role

Reporting to the Sr Engineer for Operations, this multi‑skilled Engineer will build, assemble, test, install, and service our peptide synthesizers. This is a hands‑on, end‑to‑end role directly responsible for some design work and turning raw components into fully operational instruments—and ensuring they keep running smoothly in the field.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble complete peptide synthesizers from mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control components.
  • Install wiring, tubing, and subsystems according to engineering schematics and assembly drawings.
  • Integrate software, firmware, and hardware elements into a functional system.
Testing & Quality Assurance
  • Conduct full functional tests, calibrations, and performance verification on every unit before shipment.
  • Simulate operational workflows to ensure compliance with design specifications and reliability standards.
  • Document test results and resolve any discrepancies before delivery.
  • Deliver and install instruments at customer sites, ensuring proper setup and operational readiness.
  • Provide user training on operation, care, and preventive maintenance of the equipment.
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for deployed instruments.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and software‑related issues on‑site or via remote support.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to suggest improvements based on field performance and assembly experience.
  • Identify recurring faults and propose design or procedural solutions to increase reliability and ease of service.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on supply‑chain performance.
Qualifications Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree Mechanical Engineer with a min 5 years' experience in design lab instrumentation. Knowledge of software for Mechanical Desktop, Inventor, Solid Works, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office is required.
  • Skilled in reading technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Proficient with test instruments (multimeters, pressure gauges, calibration tools) and hand/power tools.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently from start to finish on a project.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with laboratory automation, peptide synthesis, or similar chemical process instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of ISO or GMP manufacturing standards.
  • PLC programming or embedded control system familiarity.
