Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Controls Systems Engineer to join our team, supporting projects at the KTP. In this role, you will be responsible for the engineering phase, which includes hardware design, ordering parts, and programming to prepare systems for field commissioning.
Responsibilities- Design automation control systems based on customer specifications.
- Develop detailed electrical drawings.
- Program automation and control systems involving PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servos, and vision systems.
- Specify electrical equipment and materials, including PLCs and automation control components, based on calculations, customer specifications, and engineering principles.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues promptly.
- Design and debug Data Acquisition systems (SCADA).
- Perform power‑up, debugging, and calibration of control systems.
- Adhere to company processes and checklists while contributing to the development of standardized design platforms.
- Proficiency in PLC programming and Rockwell software.
- Experience with HMI programming and debugging.
- Hardware design expertise using AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical.
- Hands‑on industrial electrical experience and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read, revise, and create new logic, HMI/SCADA programs, and VFD parameters.
- Detail‑oriented with the capability to write and modify logic.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with conveyor systems including Skid, Skillet, Pallet, Friction Drive, EMS, Power & Free.
The position operates out of an engineering office directly across the street from the Ford Kentucky Truck Plant on Westport Rd. The office environment is casual and fun, but the role can become intense during shutdown periods when deadlines are tight. Ford is the primary customer at the Louisville office, and their demands can be high. Safety gear such as vests, glasses, Kevlar sleeves, and earplugs are required when working at the plant.
Flexibility with hours is necessary, as long days and weekends may be required to meet deadlines with Ford. The position is primarily first shift, working 45‑50 hours per week, with potential for over 60 hours during shutdown periods.
This is a Contract position based out of Louisville, KY.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 – $50.00/hr.
