Summary
Summary - The Air & Water Engineering Technician is responsible for understanding the test standards (UL, ASHRAE, DOE and ETP), completing requested testing per the standard, and documenting the results per the lab’s ISO 17025 quality policies. The technician will primarily be responsible for energy and performance testing for Zoneline platforms. Will be trained on UL testing once they have the experience and have demonstrated mastery of energy testing.
All testing will be conducted in the AP4 psychrometric and calorimeter chambers.
- Set up and test units in the psychrometric and calorimeter chambers.
- Apply technical expertise of instrumentation and test software to set up instrumentation to perform testing and monitor room conditions. Provide feedback to instrumentation/facility engineer on room and instrumentation.
- Interpret results and prepare test documentation reports to the lab’s ISO 17025 quality policies
- Train and educate new personnel (including technicians, engineers and interns). Participate in training both inside and outside of their areas of technical expertise
- Move and prepare engineering samples between the test area, preparation area, and storage areas. Preparation includes TCs, ductwork, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
- Mechanical and Electronic experience; hands on applications
- Thorough understanding of test equipment and instrumentation. Will be trained on this.
- Able to troubleshoot test setup, confirm required accuracy is met and knowledgeable of routine maintenance.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Attention to detail and time management skills; multitasking.
- Thorough understanding of standards (ETP, UL, ASHRAE, CFR.) Will be trained on this.
- Proficiency with Microsoft office products.
- Ability to interpret psychrometric charts and understanding dry and wet bulb readings.
- TC prep
- Data Acquistion with lab equipment
- Knowledge of HVAC operations
- 2+ year degree or military equivalent; 2 year's experience
