Position OverviewThe Mechatronics Engineer will research, design, develop, and/or test automated equipment.
This role reports to the Director of Engineering/IT
Responsibilities- Designs and develops mechatronic systems used in the automation of industrial tasks.
- Plans, develops, and implements advanced precision equipment for assigned applications.
- Analyzes manufacturing and development processes, identifying opportunities for automation, modifications, and improvements.
- Identifies mechatronic add-ons and improvements available for existing devices and processes; recommends and facilitates upgrades.
- Collaborates closely with end-customers and intermediary integrators to ensure functional compatibility and ideal performance of solutions.
- Conducts research and analysis to determine the feasibility, costs, and performance benefits of mechatronic equipment or enhancements.
- Researches options for sensors, communications technologies, and control devices, selecting and recommending the best option for each project; verifies the proper function of chosen devices.
- Identifies and selects materials appropriate for each mechatronic system design.
- Models, tests, builds, and/or implements mechatronic and automated design solutions.
- Applies mechatronic/automated solutions to the production, development, or transfer of components, finished goods, or other materials.
- Evaluates finished products; identifies and facilitates additional improvements and modifications.
- Drafts and maintains design and construction documentation for parts, assemblies, and finished products.
- Maintains logs, records, files, and other documentation related to technical aspects of projects.
- Provides training and consultation on mechatronic and automated processes and equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to apply mechanical and electrical engineering theories, practices, and procedures to automate products and processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Solid Works, Draft Sight (or AutoCAD), and other computer-assisted design (CAD) software.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Minimum three (3) years of related automation experience preferred.
