Sierra Space is a mission-driven space and defense technology company. The Manufacturing Engineer II role supports process improvements, quality, and manufacturing efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions on manufacturing issues.
  • Lead and participate in process improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to optimize production processes and resolve technical issues.
  • Assist in the development and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings to support manufacturing activities.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends and recommend process improvements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 2+ years of related experience.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., NX).
  • Strong project management and multitasking skills.
  • Experience in process improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience in process validation and verification tasks.
  • Basic knowledge of safety regulations and practices.
  • Proficiency in reading technical manuals and schematics.
  • Knowledge of equipment calibration and testing procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in aerospace, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification (e.g., Green Belt, Black Belt).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Track record in a space or aerospace manufacturing setting.
  • In‑depth understanding of spacecraft subsystems.
  • Experience with AS9100 quality standards.
  • Experience in MES, PLM, and ERP implementation.
Compensation

Pay range: $87,663.00 - $, determined on a case‑by‑case basis.
