Sierra Space is a mission-driven space and defense technology company. The Manufacturing Engineer II role supports process improvements, quality, and manufacturing efficiency.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions on manufacturing issues.
- Lead and participate in process improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to optimize production processes and resolve technical issues.
- Assist in the development and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings to support manufacturing activities.
- Analyze production data to identify trends and recommend process improvements.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 2+ years of related experience.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing principles and practices.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., NX).
- Strong project management and multitasking skills.
- Experience in process improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience in process validation and verification tasks.
- Basic knowledge of safety regulations and practices.
- Proficiency in reading technical manuals and schematics.
- Knowledge of equipment calibration and testing procedures.
- Advanced degree in aerospace, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering.
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification (e.g., Green Belt, Black Belt).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Track record in a space or aerospace manufacturing setting.
- In‑depth understanding of spacecraft subsystems.
- Experience with AS9100 quality standards.
- Experience in MES, PLM, and ERP implementation.
Pay range: $87,663.00 - $, determined on a case‑by‑case basis.
