Environmental Health & Safety Specialist III
Responsible for implementing and monitoring the company's environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations. Maintains safety equipment inventory, performs periodic safety inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards, monitors hazardous waste removal vendors, and assists in the consolidation of hazardous wastes (chemical, radioactive, and/or medical). Monitors environmental compliance and maintains liaison with regulatory agencies.
Develops and delivers EHS training programs to employees, conducts risk assessments, and creates mitigation strategies. Investigates incidents and near‑misses, implements corrective actions, prepares and submits required environmental reports and documentation, and stays current with EHS regulations and industry best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience) or Master's with 3+ years experience.
- 5+ years of related experience in environmental health and safety.
- Knowledge of EHS management systems such as ISO 45001, ISO 14001, or similar.
- Expertise in EHS-related topics such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Permit‑Required Confined Spaces (PRCS), fall protection/prevention, Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC), air permitting, etc.
- Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety Management, or related field.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or similar.
- Experience with hazardous waste management and emergency response.
- Proficiency in EHS software and tools.
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or similar certifications.
- Understanding of industrial hygiene principles and practices.
- Experience with hazard identification and risk assessment methodologies.
- Familiarity with safety data sheets (SDS) and chemical management.
- Knowledge of incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis.
- Ability to develop and deliver EHS training programs.
- Experience with environmental compliance reporting and documentation.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting and applying regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and EHS‑specific software.
$ - $ per year (base salary, determined case‑by‑case).
