We are seeking a Environmental Technician to support the safe handling, segregation, packaging, and transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous materials and waste. This role involves working at customer sites including industrial, laboratory, and educational facilities to perform lab pack and waste management services. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and customer service in a field-based environmental services environment.
Travel to various locations may be required based on business needs.
- Sort, segregate, package, and transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials and waste safely and efficiently
- Follow all health and safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements at all times
- Identify chemical hazard classes and pack compatible materials into approved containers for transportation
- Complete required shipping, transportation, and job-related documentation accurately
- Prepare and load necessary supplies and equipment for field service assignments
- Travel to industrial, laboratory, and school sites to perform lab pack and environmental service activities
- Assist with characterizing materials at field project locations
- Ensure proper placarding, labeling, and load segregation during hazardous material transportation
- Communicate professionally with customers to support strong client relationships and service delivery
- Provide direction to Field Technicians and Drivers assisting with waste collection activities
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Environmental Studies, or a related field preferred, or 2+ years of related experience
- Prior experience with lab packing, hazardous waste management, or environmental services preferred
- Introductory knowledge of hazardous materials management, waste assessment, and cylinder handling
- Understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and compliance standards
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers and internal teams
- Ability to obtain a Class B CDL with Hazmat endorsement within 6 months of hire
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, DOT physical, drug screening, and motor vehicle record review
- Must be able to wear a respirator as required for safety and compliance purposes
