FACILITY MECHANICAL ENGINEER

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Facility Mechanical Engineer supports advanced facility engineering, operations, planning, and programming for NSIC operating locations, ensuring that all construction designs, plans, and sustainment programs meet stringent requirements for secure and compliant SCIF operations. The engineer applies ICD 705 requirements to ensure construction designs and plans comply, coordinates construction contractor‑customer interfaces, and supports development, execution, and monitoring of facility maintenance and sustainment programs.

They provide facility planning and operational expertise in compliance with regulatory codes—including Unified Facility Code, Architectural Barriers Act, National Fire Protection Association standards, and National Electrical Code—across all SCIF modification and construction projects.

Key responsibilities include completing construction design reviews for ICD 705 compliance within five business days of receipt, developing monthly mechanical system reliability assessments, identifying potential risks and recommending mitigation strategies, and conducting regulatory compliance reviews that achieve 100% validation by government review.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Apply ICD 705 requirements to ensure compliance of construction designs and plans.
  • Coordinate construction contractor and customer interfaces during construction.
  • Provide advanced facility engineering, operations, planning, and programming for NSIC operating locations.
  • Provide mechanical system reliability and resiliency engineering to assure highly available intelligence mission facilities.
  • Assist NSIC in developing, executing, and monitoring facility maintenance and sustainment programs.
  • Provide expertise for facility planning and operation in compliance with regulatory codes such as UFC, ABA, NFPA, and NEC for all SCIF modification and construction projects.
  • Complete reviews of construction designs and plans for ICD 705 compliance within five business days of receipt.
  • Develop monthly Mechanical System Reliability assessments.
  • Identify potential risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Complete regulatory compliance reviews that result in findings where 100% are validated by government review.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio (Mechanical).
  • 15+ years of experience; familiarity with ICD 705 construction.
  • Extensive experience in HVAC and control systems design.
  • Active TS/SCI and SAP clearances.
