As a Mechanical Plumbing Designer, you will play a key role in the design and development of plumbing and fire protection systems for a variety of projects. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for performing system design, engineering calculations, and preparing construction documents. You will collaborate closely with senior designers and engineers to develop project concepts and designs.

Reports to: Discipline Manager, Mechanical Engineering

What You Will Do
  • Design domestic water systems, waste & vent systems, natural gas systems, and other piping systems related to built environments.
  • Create construction drawings using Revit software.
  • Read and understand building codes, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Work in a multi-disciplined team environment on multiple projects, sometimes with competing deadline or milestone requirements.
  • Review project documents for completeness, accuracy, and constructability as part of the firm’s quality control process.
  • Perform construction administration activities including site visits, submittal reviews, RFI responses, and punch lists.
  • Be a technical expert in building plumbing systems, assisting project teams and other disciplines in project decisions.
  • Represent the company in client meetings, public events, marketing activities, and professional organizations.
  • Travel, as required, to out-of-office project meetings and field work visits. Travel may include day‑trips as well as overnight stays.
  • Bring a sense of purpose, a sense of ownership, and a sense of humor to the workplace every day.

What We’re Looking For Technical & Experience Requirements
  • Exhibits a sense of personal motivation and urgency, taking extreme ownership of tasks and deliverables.
  • Excels at communication and organization. Clear and concise in written and verbal communication.
  • Technical school training, some college, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proficient in Revit. Capable in AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of plumbing, mechanical, and fire protection codes.
