Position: Environmental Specialist 2 (20038983)

Job Overview

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be the newest environmental specialist in our Division of Air Pollution Control (DAPC) at our Southeast District Office in Hocking County.

Responsibilities

As DAPC’s environmental specialist, you will evaluate and process permit to install and permit to operate applications, as well as Title V permit applications for all air contaminant emissions units to determine compliance with state and federal regulations. You will recommend actions through written or oral communications, conduct inspections of existing and new units, observe and evaluate compliance performance tests, and prepare inspection and site investigation reports.

You will review Emissions Fee Reports, Emissions Statements Reports, and Emissions Inventory Reports in the STARS system to perform technical reviews of data. You will also conduct air pollution complaint investigations and prepare investigation reports, and participate in activities supporting Ohio EPA litigations such as special field investigations, research studies, and enforcement negotiations.

  • Perform technical review of submitted data.
  • Conduct air pollution complaint investigations and prepare reports and recommended actions.
Qualifications
  • 12 months experience as Environmental Specialist 1 (85861).
  • Or 4 years of training or experience in a position involving engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science, geology, hydrogeology, or other comparable fields, including responsibilities for compliance monitoring, inspections/reviews or investigations, review of permit applications related to oil & gas, injection, coal mining, solid/hazardous waste sites, or industrial wastewater.
  • Or a baccalaureate degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science, earth science, or urban & regional planning, geology or comparable fields, with training commensurate with duties.
