Overview

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities across Amgen’s Ohio facilities, ensuring safe, efficient, and GMP-compliant execution.

Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed work plans for preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Build and maintain weekly and shutdown maintenance schedules in coordination with site operations and production teams, ensuring proper sequencing, resource allocation, and prioritization based on risk, asset criticality, and business impact.
  • Maintain backlog management processes, ensuring work orders are appropriately prioritized, scoped, and executed.
  • Utilize CMMS (e.g., Maximo, SAP PM) to plan, schedule, and track maintenance activities, maintaining accurate equipment records, BOMs, job plans, and SOPs.
  • Support development & continuous improvement of preventive maintenance (PM) programs, optimize maintenance frequencies and procedures using reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles, and coordinate predictive maintenance strategies such as vibration or thermography.
  • Collaborate with maintenance supervisors, technicians, reliability engineers, validation, quality, and EHS teams to ensure readiness of scheduled work and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Plan and support outages, shutdowns, and major maintenance events.
  • Coordinate materials and vendor management: ensure availability of spare parts, tools, and materials; interface with procurement, storeroom, and third-party vendors.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with GMP, FDA, OSHA, and Amgen quality standards, incorporating safety requirements (LOTO, confined space, permits).
  • Analyze maintenance KPIs (PM compliance, schedule adherence, backlog, downtime) and recommend improvements; drive standardization of job plans and best practices; participate in root cause analysis and reliability improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–7+ years of experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, or supervision in an industrial or regulated environment (pharma or biotech preferred).
  • Experience using CMMS platforms such as Maximo or SAP.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems in a critical facility environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in GMP-regulated pharmaceutical or biotech manufacturing facilities.
  • Certification such as Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) or equivalent.
  • Experience with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) or Lean maintenance practices.
  • Familiarity with clean rooms, utilities (WFI, clean steam), and critical systems.

Work Environment

Based at Amgen’s New Albany, OH pharmaceutical facility; combination of office planning work and field coordination in active maintenance and production areas; requires adherence to PPE, safety standards, and cleanroom requirements.

Reporting Structure
  • Reports to:

    Facility Manager.
  • Works closely with:
    Amgen Facilities, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams; JLL maintenance technicians and supervisors;
    Quality, EHS, and Validation teams.
Location

On-site – New Albany, OH.

Work Shift

Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm, with overtime based on business needs.

Compensation

$60,800 – $88,200 per year, plus overtime.
