Position Overview:
The Commissioning Engineer represents electrical commissioning for the project team from the estimating process all the way to project completion. The Commissioning Engineer will participate in various project meetings to engage with the project team and perform electrical commissioning reviews during estimating, engineering, procurement, and construction phases. Further, the role will require supporting the onsite project commissioning team by drafting procedures and assisting onsite with major milestones in commissioning and project startup.
Responsibilities:
Assist with design review for power, power delivery, and renewable projects. Attend factory acceptance tests for electrical equipment (MV, LV switchgears, transformers, relay panels, etc.). Develop electrical initial energization procedures (switchyard, back-feed, switchgears, initial synch, etc.). Travel to project site for short duration as needed to carry out audit, review energization plan, and assist with major energization evolution if needed.
Work with projects start-up team with onsite activities.
Qualifications:
Must have a minimum of 2+ years of related experience in the areas of power plants, substations, or renewable energy. Familiar with protective relays, electrical control, and protection scheme. Must be familiar with NETA, IEEE testing standards. Must be able familiar with NFPA 70E and able to demonstrate safe electrical troubleshooting skills.
