Electronics Engineer, Test Engineer, Systems Engineer, Quality Engineering
We are currently seeking an SMT Engineer to support an international organization focused on design and manufacturing of advanced interconnect solutions. This engineer will be joining a team focused on new product and R&D work. Daily it will be expected that this engineer will spend 40% of their time supporting new product development, 20% of their time focused on R&D, and 40% of their time interacting with customers understanding product concerns/constraints to recreate the issue to diagnose technical defects.
This will include partnering closely with internal teams and external customers to develop, troubleshoot, and optimize SMT processing solutions for new and existing connector products. The engineer will be responsible for hands‑on soldering and board‑level work, developing thermal profiles, selecting solder paste and stencils, reviewing Gerber data and PCB footprints, and ensuring proper connector‑to‑board integration. This role owns technical report writing, documentation of processes and procedures, and customer communication throughout the full new product lifecycle—from concept through production—often supporting customers adoption.
Strong problem‑solving skills, technical writing, and the ability to guide cautious customers through complex SMT processes are critical for success. We are seeking someone that is curious and passionate about their work and wants to grow with the organization long term. This a fulltime, direct hire opportunity with a salary range of 90-135k depending on experience.
- 5+ years of hands‑on SMT (surface mount technology) engineering experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical preferred) or 12+ years of hands‑on engineering experience
- Understanding of statistics, process control, and reliability standards (IPC, JEDEC, MIL)
- Solid Works, AutoCAD, or other design software experience
- Comfortable communicating directly with customers, with other internal teams (quality, engineering, processing, etc.), and have a strong technical writing ability
- New Product Integration (NPI) experience
