Job Functions:
- Cultivate a culture of safety awareness & housekeeping stewardship
- Provide support/resources to operations, maintenance and engineering for the implementation of safety and ergonomic improvements
- Understand, implement and communicate federal, state and local OSHA regulations
- Develop, organize and deliver safety training
- Review, develop and implement safety policies and procedures
- Maintain safety (OSHA 300 logs) records
- Interaction with regulatory agencies
- Ability to travel to other Nucor locations
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience working with federal/state safety regulations and laws
- At least two years of experience working in an industrial environment applying safety policies and development of safety and loss prevention programs
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering or related experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or environmental engineering
- Experience working with federal/state safety regulations and laws
- At least two years of experience working in an industrial environment applying safety policies and development of safety and loss prevention programs
- Experience with safety management systems and / or OSHA VPP
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, ANSI, IBIH and other regulatory standards, protocols and compliance in order to create policies and procedures
- Current First Aid/CPR Certification
- Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
