Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Raytheon Technologies (RTX) Mechanical Products Team (MPT), Shipboard Effectors Department, is hiring Mechanical Engineers for its Louisville, KY site.

This is an on‑site U.S. position that requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

• Mechanical design, geometric dimensioning & tolerance, and engineering testing.
• Prepare technical analysis reports and presentations for design reviews.
• Collaborate with the Chief Engineer, team leaders, and cross‑disciplinary staff.
• Balance program needs with resources, develop technical solutions across the product lifecycle.
• Coordinate development of design verification and qualification test plans.
• Work with production staff to produce producible designs.
• Travel to suppliers as needed for production and technical issues.
• Provide mentorship to junior staff.

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and at least five years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency with CAD solid‑modeling tools and analysis tools.
• Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances (GD&T).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance before the start date.
• U.S. citizenship required for security clearance eligibility.

• Leadership experience with small engineering teams (4–6 people).
• Supplier interaction and supplier‑management experience.
• Experience in mechanical sub‑systems packaging, materials, thermal or structural analysis, energetics, control systems, interconnect, airframe, or large assembly development.
• Knowledge of Agile hardware development processes.

Salary range: $86,800 – $165,200 USD per annum.
