National Security Solutions (NSS) Semiconductor Research Internship (Fall 2026)
K ’s National Security Solutions team provides high‑end engineering and advanced technology solutions to customers in the intelligence and national security communities. This internship offers hands‑on experience in the fabrication and electrical characterization of wide and ultra‑wide bandgap semiconductor devices for the Air Force Research Laboratory.
Job SummaryWe are seeking highly motivated undergraduate and graduate students for Fall
2026. Selected candidates will learn microelectronics fabrication processes, design and fabricate devices such as field‑effect transistors and diodes, and apply solid‑state physics concepts to analyze device performance.
- Provide technical support in engineering, materials science, or related field across research, design, development, testing, and manufacturing of semiconductor devices.
- Perform routine tasks under supervision, following detailed procedures.
- Interpret complex information and communicate findings in a clear, non‑technical manner.
- Identify problematic data, conduct research, and develop lasting solutions.
Location:
On‑site at AFRL, Wright‑Patterson Air Force Base, OH.
Travel Requirements:
Minimal 0‑20%; no planned travel.
Working Hours:
Standard 40 hours per week.
- Security Clearance
:
Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance. - Education
:
Senior undergraduate or graduate student in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or related physical science/engineering/technical degree with relevant experience. - Computer Literacy
:
Proficient with computers and software applications, including Microsoft Excel. - Desirable Attributes
:
Self‑motivated, team‑oriented, strong communication skills, strong problem‑solving, and detail‑oriented.
