The Mechanical Products Team (MPT), Shipboard Effectors Department, is seeking Mechanical Engineers for our Louisville, KY site in both development and production support across multiple programs.
The Mechanical Engineering position performs aligned expectations across design, development, and production support, encompassing mechanical designs, validation principles, qualification processes, procurement, and production processes across the design life cycle. Development work may include requirements understanding, concept development, DFMAs, PFMAs, margin analysis, technical data package (TDP) development, application of GD&T principals, engineering test principals, preparation of technical analysis reports, and presentation in design reviews.
What You Will Do:- Mechanical design, geometric dimensioning and tolerance, and engineering testing.
- Preparation of technical analysis reports and presentations in design reviews.
- Strong collaboration and communication with the Chief Engineer and team leaders.
- Balance program needs with available resources.
- Develop technical solutions for a wide range of complex problems across the product life cycle including design, manufacture, integration and test, and design solutions for multiple systems.
- Meet cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements for the finished product.
- Coordinate with other disciplines on design verification test plans and qualification test plans.
- Coordinate with operations (production) staff on producible designs.
- Occasional travel to suppliers may be required to resolve production issues, technical performance issues or attend critical program engineering reviews.
- Provide mentorship to team members.
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
- Experience with CAD solid modeling tools and analysis tools.
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required.
- Leadership experience with small teams (4‑6 people).
- Supplier interaction and supplier management experience.
- Ability to collaborate in teams or independently.
- Experience in mechanical sub‑systems packaging, materials, thermal, structural analysis, energetics principals, control systems, interconnect, airframe, or large assembly development.
- Knowledge of Agile hardware development.

- Competitive salary range: $86,800 – $165,200 USD.
