Location: Columbus, OH (near Raymond, OH) - 80% onsite / 20% remote
Duration: Through March 31, 2027 (with potential extension)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated CAE Durability Engineer to support strength and durability simulations for body and closure systems. This role will focus on full vehicle and subsystem-level analysis, working closely with design, testing, and offshore teams to ensure performance targets are achieved.
This is a project-based position requiring a hands-on engineer who can quickly contribute to ongoing programs and deliver high-quality CAE results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform day-to-day strength and durability simulations for body and closure components
- Develop high-quality finite element (FE) models and meshes for body and chassis subsystems
- Execute non-linear FE analysis using Abaqus for strength and fatigue evaluation
- Conduct fatigue life analysis (e.g., nCode or equivalent tools)
- Analyze simulation results and identify failure modes and performance gaps
- Collaborate with design and test teams to develop and implement countermeasures
- Coordinate with offshore teams to support project execution
- Prepare and deliver clear technical reports and presentations of findings
- Support test validation activities and correlate CAE results with physical testing
- Contribute to continuous improvement of CAE methodologies and processes
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of CAE experience (flexible to ~3+ years with strong tool expertise)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- Strong hands-on experience with ANSA (pre-processing)
- Strong hands-on experience with Abaqus (solver)
- Experience in vehicle durability, strength analysis, and FE modeling
- Ability to work independently and hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with META and Hyper Works
- Background in automotive industry or Tier 1 suppliers
- Experience with sheet metal, body-in-white, or closure systems
- Familiarity with fatigue post-processing tools (e.g., nCode)
