Bluepath Robotics is looking for a Commissioning Engineer to support the deployment and start-up of Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) solutions at customer sites in Kentucky and across the U.S. This role is responsible for preparing, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and handing over robotic systems, while working closely with project, engineering, production and customer teams.
Key Responsibilities- Select, review and commission mechatronic sub-components such as motor drives, motors, lidar, sensors, safety devices and related automation equipment.
- Read and interpret datasheets, electrical diagrams, technical manuals and 2D site layout drawings.
- Support the end-to-end commissioning process of completed robots and peripheral components, from pre-commissioning to field integration and final handover.
- Place, inspect and validate equipment on site according to project layouts and customer requirements.
- Conduct process demos and pre-commissioning activities before field deployment; identify gaps and communicate findings to the relevant teams.
- Perform system testing, root-cause analysis, troubleshooting and corrective actions during commissioning.
- Provide regular progress updates and technical reporting to the project team throughout the commissioning process.
- Prepare and coordinate the required handover documentation with internal teams.
- Provide after-sales technical support for commissioned projects in line with customer needs.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in automation, commissioning, project execution or field engineering.
- Hands-on experience with field installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and customer-site project support.
- Prior experience in Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR), mobile robotics or intralogistics automation is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Automation Engineering or a related engineering field.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with safety device configuration such as lidar, PLCs, sensors and related safety components.
- Knowledge of PLC programming and automation platforms.
- Experience commissioning and troubleshooting motors, motor drives and motion systems.
- Familiarity with industrial communication and factory connectivity systems such as IoT architectures, OPC and Kepware.
- Basic understanding of network components and networking concepts.
- Ability to select and use electrical and automation components.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, including E-Plan or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of mechatronic systems, operating principles and failure analysis.
- Project documentation and project management awareness.
- Knowledge of AMR technologies, Robot Operating System (ROS) and VDA
5050 protocol is preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites within the U.S. and internationally as project needs require.
- Ability to work flexible hours during commissioning, start-up and critical project phases.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel by car as needed.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
