Overview

Responsible for short and long-range planning, coordination, and scheduling of routine and emergency turbine-generator maintenance outages and repairs. Responsibilities include technical problem-solving, spare parts inventory oversight, and coordination of resources such as vendor and craft manpower necessary to minimize overall time and cost of maintenance activities. Creates, reviews and evaluates overhaul, outage and repair reports and incorporates improvement techniques in future procedures and plans.

Ensures proper repair procedures are followed safely and accurately. Reviews and evaluates operating data in troubleshooting equipment performance and problems.

Responsibilities
  • Plans and directs all aspects of planned and forced turbine-generator outages for the LG&E and KU power plants.
  • Develops, implements, and reviews repair and maintenance procedures for turbines and generators throughout the LG&E & KU system.
  • Evaluates and provides outage recommendations to plant management teams which include schedule, scope, materials, and manpower requirements.
  • Analyzes projected costs and schedule associated with repairs and outages and provides target budget and schedule to plant management for review and approval.
  • Directs and supervises manpower during outages/repairs and provides technical direction. (employees and subcontractors)
  • Evaluates necessary parts and material required for outages and ensures timely delivery.
  • Researches and evaluates new turbine and generator modifications and repair procedures.
  • Maintains maintenance/modification records for (and participates in) insurance audits.
  • Researches unit outage history, analyzes equipment performance and evaluates improvements to lengthen outage intervals and/or improve reliability.
  • Monitors and records SPE wear and damage and evaluates materials and coatings which may lessen wear.
  • Creates and maintains accurate records of past and future outage activities.
  • Provide accurate and pertinent daily log of outage activities and processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications Required Education

Associate’s Degree or two-year technical training beyond high school; or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis is required

Required Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in Power Generation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Possesses excellent problem-solving skills, ability to multi- task and above average planning skills.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possesses the ability to self-manage their work when working away from base location.
  • Possess excellent computer skills.
  • Past work experience as a superintendent level or above in a turbine generator field.
