We are looking for a Geotechnical Engineer (
EIT or PE
) whowill play a key role in performing geotechnical explorations and investigations for our clients. You’ll leverage your expertise and creative problem-solving skills while collaborating closely with institutions/municipal agencies, Architects, Engineers, Developers, and project teams to deliver customized geotechnical studies, reports, and solutions. From initial concept development to final execution, this role will guide projects through every stage of the land profile evaluation process, ensuring seamless integration and optimal results.

Highlights:
- Interesting projects ranging from infrastructure, industrial, commercial, and “one-off”/unique engineering.
- Projects are located in north-central Kentucky/southern Indiana – generally within a 60-90 mile radius of the Shelbyville/east Louisville office.
- This role will be at least 30-40% in the field, so some overnight travel (a couple of nights a month) is very normal/to be expected.
- A company vehicle can be provided or reimbursement for personal vehicle use.
- This role will be based out of our Shelbyville (east Louisville) office.
Responsibilities
:
- Performing geotechnical explorations, site characterizations, and risk evaluation on developments.
- Training and supervision of lab technicians (based on experience), maintenance of quality reviews and certifications, management of equipment inventory and calibration, client marketing and proposal preparation.
- Ability to work independently on broad projects with oversight/supervision by the Service Line Manager.
- Providing direction on a project-to-project basis – i.e. preparing lab testing assignments, reviewing documents, and testing results for content and accuracy.
- Reviewing soils laboratory test results.
- Assisting in planning and the execution of subsurface investigation programs - including the understanding of project design plans, locating test borings at project sites, coordinating underground utility clearance.
- Monitoring and enforcing quality control standards and specifications.
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
:
- Ability to read design drawings.
- Ability to meet schedules.
- Experience with common geotechnical software or be able to utilize software with minimal training.
- Self-motivated, reliable, quality minded, and detail oriented.
Minimum Qualifications
:
- 0-4+ yearsof experience in consulting engineering on various civil projects
- New grads are encouraged to apply!
- EIT credentialing is a strong plus, but the ability to get EIT and PE is required (must have ABET accredited degree)
