The Staff Civil Engineer will provide technical leadership to project teams who will be working on planning, evaluation, design andimplementationof civil engineering projects. The successful candidate will leadthe study-phase and/or design-phase of projects related to the civil, environmental,construction and industrial fields. The Staff Civil Engineer would regularly have interaction with employees outside of their department, regularly have interaction with clients, occasionally interact with the public (agencies, government entities, etc.),andrarely
participate insellingto clients.
Thestaff civil engineer isexpectedto manage assigned co-ops/interns, whilebeinganexampleofprofessional presence, representing the Company andthe department ina positive light,andhave intermediate levelof software knowledge ofatleast two(2) engineering software packages.
Thisrole is notrequired to havea
Professional Engineering license.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Consultswithandprovidesguidanceto project stakeholders andmanagerialstaffregardingengineering requirements for construction of various designs, and modifications.
- Usesdesignsoftwareanddrawingtoolstoaccuratelyrenderandcommunicate designs;plansand designs other necessary improvement related to type of project assigned.
- Sets design specificationsbycomputingappropriate engineering requirements (i.e.
-water flow rates, traffic demand, earth work balance, etc.). - Plansprojectsbasedontheanalysisofrelevantmaterialssuchasdrawings,blueprints,aerial photography, survey reports, maps, and other geologic and topographical data.
- Drafts and presents reports ontopics relatedto projects suchasdetention reportsandengineering due diligence reports.
- Perform calculations for materials, equipment, andlabor needed to determine probable construction cost.
- Collaborateswitharchitects,contractors,andotherengineerstoensureprojectsprogressproperly.
- Collaborates with surveyors (or directs and participates in surveying) to establish installations or reference points, grades, elevations, and other factors that will affect construction.
- Monitorsprojectprogressandensuresdesignspecificationsandstandardsaremet.
- Abletoteachandexplaintoothersthemethodologiesusedby The Company .
- Intermediatelevelofunderstandingofdesigntoolsandcivilengineeringpractices.
- Fundamentaldesignofprojectsforsites.

Qualifications, Education and Experience:
- Civil Engineering Degree (orrelated)
- Minimum2consecutiveyearsof Civil Engineering experience
- Public speakingability,desired
- Executebasicdesignprojectsfromstartto finishastheprimarydesigneroftheproject.
- Developbaselineknowledgeofstateandlocalregulations
Required Skill and Abilities:
- Basicunderstandingofcivilengineeringprinciples,practices,andtools.
- Proficientincomputer-assisted design(CAD) andotherdesign,data recording,andanalyzationsoftware.
- Basic understanding of materials, methods, andtoolsinvolved in the construction orrepair ofsiteand transportation infrastructure improvements.
- Abilitytoidentifyandsolve complex problems.
- Excellentverbalandwrittencommunicationskills.
- Abilitytobebothcreativeandanalytical.
- Extremely detail-orientedandaccurate.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolongedperiodssittingatadeskandworkingonacomputer.
- Mustbeabletoliftupto
15poundsat times. - Mustbeabletotraveltovariousprojectsites.
- Mustbeabletoaccessandnavigatejobsitesandconstructionareas.
