Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Role Overview

Fenco Solutions is seeking a hands-on, manufacturing-focused finance leader to serve as Vice President of Finance. This role is designed for an operator with deep expertise in manufacturing cost accounting and management accounting, not a purely corporate FP&A executive.

The core responsibility is to build and sustain accurate cost accounting systems, disciplined inventory controls, and operationally actionable reporting across the manufacturing environment. While this role includes full VP Finance / CFO responsibilities, success is defined by cost integrity, variance transparency, and direct support of plant-level decision-making.

This role is well-suited for a high-performing Plant Controller or manufacturing finance leader ready to step into enterprise-wide responsibility

Key Outcomes (First 12–18 Months) 1. Cost Accounting Maturity
  • Maintain accurate, current, and consistent standard costing structure
  • Ensure inventory valuation and cost flow are correct auditable
  • Reliable BOMs, routings, labor standards, and overhead structures
2. Operational Variance Visibility
  • Clear monthly (and ideally weekly) reporting that explains the following:
  • Purchase price and labor efficiency variance
  • Material usage and scrap variance
  • Over/under-absorption
  • Production mix and volume impacts
  • Variances would need to translate into specific operational actions, not just reports
3. ERP & Systems Enablement
  • Support ERP and related workflows to reinforce cost integrity
  • Develop strong linkage between finance and manufacturing master data
  • Establish ownership and control of system inputs (who owns what, and how it’s maintained)
4. Finance Team Execution
  • Develop clear accountability and expectations across plant finance and cost accounting roles
  • Create a predictable fast and clean month end close process
  • Avoid bureaucracy through development of effective internal controls
Core Responsibilities

A) Manufacturing Cost Accounting (Primary Focus)
  • Own and continuously improve the company’s manufacturing cost accounting framework
  • Lead standard cost setting and annual cost roll processes
  • Maintain accurate inventory valuation practices, including WIP
  • Ensure accuracy of cost drivers (BOMs, routings, labor rates, overhead application)
  • Build and drive variance reporting that creates utilization for operation leaders
  • Establish disciplined cycle counting, inventory control, and reconciliation practices
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities through true cost transparency
B) Management Accounting & Performance Reporting
  • Deliver clear, actionable monthly reporting by:
  • Plant
  • Product family and category
  • Customer and channel
  • Improve project costing accuracy
  • Provide operational dashboards that connect financial results to manufacturing reality
  • Improve margin accuracy and confidence across the business
C) Finance Leadership
  • Lead monthly close, financial statements, cash management, and forecasting
  • Maintain banking relationships and support funding needs
  • Support manufacturing driven budgeting with a reality-based approach
  • Manage audit and tax coordination with external partners
  • Ensure appropriate financial controls and compliance practices
D) Strategic & Executive Support
  • Provide ROI analysis for capital expenditures, equipment, automation, and plant investments
  • Evaluate major pricing and quoting decisions with accurate sound margin
  • Support long-term planning and scenario modeling as needed
What This Role Is NOT

To ensure alignment, this role is not a fit for candidates whose background or preferences are primarily:

  • M&A deal-making as a core value proposition
  • Corporate FP&A leadership removed from plant operations
  • Managing exclusively through analysts, dashboards, or consultants
  • Avoiding direct challenges to inventory accuracy, routing logic, or scrap assumptions
  • Preferring polished systems over fixing messy, real-world costing environments
Required Background
  • Hands-on manufacturing cost accounting experience
  • Hands-on experience building or fixing the following:
  • Standard costing systems
  • Variance analysis discipline
  • Inventory accuracy and controls
  • Cost roll logic, labor standards, and overhead application
  • Experience in one or more of the following…
