Fenco Solutions is seeking a hands-on, manufacturing-focused finance leader to serve as Vice President of Finance. This role is designed for an operator with deep expertise in manufacturing cost accounting and management accounting, not a purely corporate FP&A executive.
The core responsibility is to build and sustain accurate cost accounting systems, disciplined inventory controls, and operationally actionable reporting across the manufacturing environment. While this role includes full VP Finance / CFO responsibilities, success is defined by cost integrity, variance transparency, and direct support of plant-level decision-making.
This role is well-suited for a high-performing Plant Controller or manufacturing finance leader ready to step into enterprise-wide responsibility
Key Outcomes (First 12–18 Months) 1. Cost Accounting Maturity- Maintain accurate, current, and consistent standard costing structure
- Ensure inventory valuation and cost flow are correct auditable
- Reliable BOMs, routings, labor standards, and overhead structures
- Clear monthly (and ideally weekly) reporting that explains the following:
- Purchase price and labor efficiency variance
- Material usage and scrap variance
- Over/under-absorption
- Production mix and volume impacts
- Variances would need to translate into specific operational actions, not just reports
- Support ERP and related workflows to reinforce cost integrity
- Develop strong linkage between finance and manufacturing master data
- Establish ownership and control of system inputs (who owns what, and how it’s maintained)
- Develop clear accountability and expectations across plant finance and cost accounting roles
- Create a predictable fast and clean month end close process
- Avoid bureaucracy through development of effective internal controls
A) Manufacturing Cost Accounting (Primary Focus)
- Own and continuously improve the company’s manufacturing cost accounting framework
- Lead standard cost setting and annual cost roll processes
- Maintain accurate inventory valuation practices, including WIP
- Ensure accuracy of cost drivers (BOMs, routings, labor rates, overhead application)
- Build and drive variance reporting that creates utilization for operation leaders
- Establish disciplined cycle counting, inventory control, and reconciliation practices
- Identify cost reduction opportunities through true cost transparency
- Deliver clear, actionable monthly reporting by:
- Plant
- Product family and category
- Customer and channel
- Improve project costing accuracy
- Provide operational dashboards that connect financial results to manufacturing reality
- Improve margin accuracy and confidence across the business
- Lead monthly close, financial statements, cash management, and forecasting
- Maintain banking relationships and support funding needs
- Support manufacturing driven budgeting with a reality-based approach
- Manage audit and tax coordination with external partners
- Ensure appropriate financial controls and compliance practices
- Provide ROI analysis for capital expenditures, equipment, automation, and plant investments
- Evaluate major pricing and quoting decisions with accurate sound margin
- Support long-term planning and scenario modeling as needed

- M&A deal-making as a core value proposition
- Corporate FP&A leadership removed from plant operations
- Managing exclusively through analysts, dashboards, or consultants
- Avoiding direct challenges to inventory accuracy, routing logic, or scrap assumptions
- Preferring polished systems over fixing messy, real-world costing environments
- Hands-on manufacturing cost accounting experience
- Hands-on experience building or fixing the following:
- Standard costing systems
- Variance analysis discipline
- Inventory accuracy and controls
- Cost roll logic, labor standards, and overhead application
