GeneralJob Summary
The Loan Quality Analyst supports the Loan Quality Assurance Manager in strengthening the integrity of the lending process by ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and adherence to internal policies across the full loan lifecycle. The analyst is a core execution partner to the Manager in preventing and detecting defects within Loan Operations and in reducing the bank's reliance on downstream compliance and audit remediation.
The analyst performs both real time and post completion quality reviews. In a real time capacity, the analyst executes control functions prior to funding and booking to confirm that loans meet all applicable standards and requirements, so that issues are identified and resolved early. In a post completion capacity, the analyst performs file reviews and ongoing monitoring to validate processes, assess adherence to procedures, and identify gaps or control breakdowns.
The analyst contributes to root cause analysis, sustainable corrective actions, continuous improvement, and subject matter support on regulatory and internal policy expectations.
Organizational Duties And Responsibilities- Supports the mission, vision and philosophy of the Bank. Complies willingly with all organizational policies and procedures.
- Supports all functions that maintain compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Execute prefunding and prebooking control checks on assigned loan populations to confirm accuracy, completeness, regulatory compliance, and adherence to Loan Policy prior to funding or booking.
- Escalate exceptions promptly to the originating department Manager
- Document real time findings, resolutions, and defect trends in the program's system of record to support the Manager's reporting and analytics.
- Execute post close file reviews, targeted control testing in accordance with the annual monitoring plan owned by the Manager.
- Validate adherence to Loan Policy, SOX controls, and applicable regulations including HMDA, TRID, Flood, Reg B, Reg Z, and Reg O.
- Perform root cause analysis on identified defects and control failures.
- Recommend sustainable corrective actions that address the underlying cause rather than the individual exception.
- Support the Manager in validating remediation effectiveness and contributing to the CCIR process where findings are reportable.
- Track process changes across Loan Operations and flag changes that alter the control environment or scope of quality activities.
- Partner with process owners to enhance front line controls, embedding quality earlier in the loan lifecycle and reducing the need for downstream detection.
- Surface defect themes, control weaknesses, and improvement opportunities to the Manager to inform methodology updates, training design, and staffing decisions.
- Draft written monitoring summaries, findings, and trend analyses suitable for review by the Manager and inclusion in reporting to the Director of Operations and Chief Operations Officer.
- Prepare work papers to a defensible standard for internal audit, external audit, and state and federal examinations, including FDIC, Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio regulatory reviews.
- Support the Manager during examinations and audits, including preparation of first day letter responses and interview participation as directed.
