The Louisville Police Department is hiring many Police Officers. Candidates must be Colorado POST certified at the time of appointment. Applicants who are currently enrolled in a Colorado POST certified police academy are eligible to apply. (No expired Colorado certifications or current out-of-state certifications).

Individuals who are POST certified with the state of Colorado by the date of appointment should apply. (No expired certifications or current out-of-state certifications). Current Colorado officers with 1, 2, or 3 years of patrol experience with a Colorado municipal, county, or state law enforcement agency may start as a lateral up to Step 3.
New 2023 Pay Ranges! Hiring Range depends on qualifications and can go up to Step 3 for lateral hires.
Step 1 Police Officer salary is $35.45 hourly or $73,736 annually.
Step 2 Police Officer salary is $37.22 hourly or $77,417.60 annually.
Step 3 Police Officer salary is $39.09 hourly or $81,307.20 annually (top pay concludes at Step 6, which is $45.25 hourly or $94,120 annually).
New Retirement Contribution to 401(a) for Police, with the City contributing 10%.

A Louisville Police Officer works under the supervision of a Police Sergeant or Police Corporal and performs a wide variety of law enforcement duties. Officers respond to situations requiring a public safety presence, protect life and property, maintain public order, conduct investigations, handle traffic and code enforcement, apprehend suspects, conduct civil processes, collaborate with schools, businesses, and community groups to foster good relationships, and proactively reduce crime.
Officers must be capable of using physical force, including deadly force, to protect citizens and apprehend suspects; provide medical aid; assist the mentally ill; conduct searches; and make public presentations. Officers are held to the highest ethical standards both on and off duty.
