We are currently seeking compassionate, dependable caregivers to join our all-male dementia care unit for both full-time and part-time positions. The Dementia Unit Caregiver is responsible for providing direct, hands‑on care to male residents in a specialized dementia care unit within our long-term care facility. This role focuses on supporting residents with daily living activities, promoting their comfort and dignity, and ensuring their safety while maintaining a calm, structured, and supportive environment.
Caregivers in this role work closely with nurses, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver individualized care that meets each resident’s physical, emotional, and cognitive needs. The ideal candidate is compassionate, observant, dependable, and committed to providing respectful, high‑quality care to residents living with memory impairments.
Responsibilities- Provide direct personal care to residents, including assistance with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and hygiene
- Assist residents with mobility, transfers, positioning, and ambulation while ensuring safety at all times
- Assist with group and individual activities
- Support residents with eating and hydration, including meal setup and feeding assistance when needed
- Maintain a calm, structured, and reassuring environment for residents living with dementia
- Monitor residents’ physical and emotional conditions and promptly report any changes to nursing staff
- Build positive, respectful relationships with residents to promote trust, comfort, and emotional well‑being
- Respond promptly and professionally to resident needs, call lights, and requests for assistance
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized resident environment, including rooms and common areas
- Follow all care plans, safety protocols, and facility policies and procedures
- Document care and observations accurately and in a timely manner
- Work collaboratively with nurses, therapists, and fellow team members to ensure continuity of care
- Provide compassionate emotional support to residents experiencing confusion, anxiety, or behavioral challenges
- Maintain resident dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required
- Previous experience in a long-term care facility preferred
- Compassionate, patient, and respectful attitude toward elderly residents
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to providing consistent care
- Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team
- Strong observation skills and attention to detail
- Ability to assist with lifting, transferring, and supporting residents safely
- Must demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and reliability
