Responsibilities
The Sterile Processing Technician will perform technical duties necessary for the decontamination, processing, sterilization, and distribution of supplies and equipment for the entire hospital, and follow established hospital protocol, policies, procedures, and central sterile standards.
- Perform technical duties necessary for decontamination, processing, sterilization and distribution of supplies and equipment for the entire hospital.
- Follow established hospital protocol, policies, procedures and central sterile standards for all patient populations served within a team environment using strong attention to detail, strong organizational & prioritization skills, effective communications, critical thinking, and basic computer skills.
Support the sterile processing team in all aspects of central sterile services, including but not limited to equipment maintenance, inventory management, and compliance with regulations.
Opportunities for GrowthEntry-level technicians will have opportunities to obtain certification within the first two years of employment.
Certified technicians may work under the full scope of practice in any of the five area hospitals.
Required Qualifications- Must obtain one of the following certifications within the first two years of employment: CIS, CRCST, or CSPDT (through HSPA or CBSPD). The technician must also sit for the exam within the first 12 months of employment.
- For Senior Sterile Processing Technician:
Must have three years of experience in Sterile Processing & Central Service or three years as a Surgical Tech and certification as CIS, CRCST, or CSPDT.
- One year of experience in Sterile Processing/Central Service or as an OR tech.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL), and Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER).
