Data Protection Analyst
Immediate need for a talented Data Protection Analyst. This is a 06 months contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in U.S(Remote).
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate, triage, and document Data Loss Prevention (DLP) alerts and incidents in accordance with established incident response and escalation procedures
- Perform root cause analysis and assist with escalation of confirmed data protection incidents
- Recommend and support improvements to existing DLP controls and processes, including reduction of false positives
- Generate recurring and ad hoc reports, metrics, and dashboards to support risk analysis, operational oversight, and management reporting
- Support the configuration, deployment, monitoring, and tuning of DLP technologies across cloud and on-premises environments
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, privacy, IT, and business stakeholders to identify and mitigate data protection risks
- Assist with audits, regulatory inquiries, assessments, and compliance activities by gathering evidence and maintaining documentation
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, standards, and workflows related to data protection and information governance
- Support initiatives related to data classification, data handling, privacy controls, and protection of sensitive information such as PHI and PII
- Assist in developing educational materials and awareness resources for technical and non-technical audiences
- Support governance and controls related to AI and Generative AI technologies within established security and compliance frameworks
Key Requirements and Technology
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Data protection, data governance, information security operations, or a related technical discipline, supporting privacy, information governance, or data protection programs, working within healthcare, insurance, financial services, or other highly regulated environments
- Experience triaging and investigating Data Loss Prevention (DLP) incidents
- Knowledge of data classification, data sensitivity, and secure data handling practices
- Experience maintaining and enhancing DLP controls and monitoring their effectiveness
- Experience developing metrics, trend analysis, reporting, and operational dashboards
- Familiarity with AI-assisted security tools and data protection controls supporting AI/GenAI use cases
- Experience with Microsoft Purview, Proofpoint, Zscaler, Cyera DSPM, or similar data protection platforms.
- Information Security certifications (e.g., Security, CISSP, CIPP, GIAC, or related credentials).
- Experience supporting cloud-based security and data governance initiatives.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Cybersecurity, Information Security, Risk, Governance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
