Applications Engineer

Job Purpose

Applications Engineer I (Assistant AE) is the entry‑level position on the Applications Engineering Team. The Assistant AE focuses on effectively supporting and training users and testing the software.

• Dedicate time and effort to learn products and support processes while handling simpler customer interactions.
• Respond to support tickets, assist users, help them operate company software, support training and demos, and appropriately escalating complex issues.
• Support software testing activities, develop proficiency in testing tools, processes, and product behavior.
• Execute assigned tests, assist with software and hardware testing, document test results, and learn to identify and report defects.
• Provide support for internal IT and business operations in support of development, product, marketing, and sales teams.
• Communicate customer feedback and feature requests to Application Engineer team leads and Product Management.

• No prior experience required.
• Technology‑related degree not required, but a bonus.
• Experience in the construction industry, 3D modeling, laser scanning, or software development not required, but a bonus.

• Comfortable in a technical environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Good at switching tasks quickly in a complex environment.

• Prolonged periods of computer use.
• Ability to participate in remote meetings across global time zones.
• Occasional travel for team meetings, customer visits, or conferences (typically < 10%).

• Remote work environment with collaboration across multiple time zones.
• Fast‑paced setting requiring adaptability and proactive communication.
• Collaboration with globally distributed engineering and product teams.
• Occasional onsite visits to customer locations, trade shows, or Topcon offices.
