About the role

The Data Product Manager is a pivotal strategic and operational role within the Data Excellence & AI Foundations organization. Operating within a Hub-and-Spoke Federated Model, the Data Product Manager bridges the gap between business leadership, domain stakeholders, and the technical Data Platform Engineering squad. The Data Product Manager is responsible for treating enterprise data as a curated, governed, software-like product, owning the end-to-end lifecycle across assigned business processes from initial value identification through ingestion, transformation, governance certification, marketplace publication, and ultimate deprecation.

A primary objective of this role is to ensure all published data assets meet Avery Dennison’s "AI-Ready" Gold/Platinum Standards, enabling seamless consumption by knowledge workers, business intelligence dashboards, predictive analytics, and autonomous AI agents without requiring manual pre-processing or reformatting.

Key Responsibilities

This position is based on-site/hybrid in Mentor, Ohio.

  • Own, prioritize, and manage the data product backlog and strategic roadmap for assigned business domains in close coordination with business Data Product Owners (DPOs), applying the enterprise Hard-Dollar Benefit Rule to define quantifiable financial returns prior to development.

  • Partner with non-IT business leads, functional process owners, and business analysts to map ownership, drive adoption of certified data products across regional business units, eliminate Shadow IT practices, and facilitate educational workshops to elevate organizational data literacy.

  • Guide data products through the 8-stage enterprise lifecycle (Identify ➔ Create ➔ Ingest ➔ Transform ➔ Govern ➔ Expose ➔ Consume ➔ Retire), enforce AI Readiness criteria, and partner with Data Governance to socialize quality scorecards.

  • Collaborate with Analytics Engineers and SMEs to define single-source-of-truth canonical metrics within the Enterprise Semantic Layer, oversee capture of mandatory metadata in the Enterprise Data Catalog, and establish SLAs regarding freshness, completeness, uptime, and latency.

  • Collaborate with the Data Value & Fin Ops Analyst to track cloud infrastructure run costs against delivered business value, implement usage-based chargeback/showback billing models, and monitor product consumption patterns and query performance.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or an equivalent technical/quantitative field.

  • 8+ years of experience in data product management, data engineering leadership, business intelligence, or enterprise data management, with a proven track record of managing software or data assets within a complex manufacturing or supply chain environment.

  • Deep understanding of Level-1 enterprise business processes in at least two core domains, strong familiarity with…
