Talis Group’s client is a well-established and highly respected east end law firm, with a collaborative team environment. The Paralegal will assist attorney(s) in a family law practice; document preparation and review; interviewing clients and witnesses; research, investigations, and fact checking; and trial preparation. - Assist with screening of prospective clients and gathering intake information at new client meetings.
- Responsible for opening cases for new clients and working case until final phase.
- Manage firm calendar.
- Effectively handle a family law case from the initial retention through conclusion.
- Drafting and preparing all required pleadings, correspondence, and other documents for family law cases, including Dissolution of marriage; paternity; post-judgment actions (modification, contempt, enforcement); domestic violence injunctions; relocations; and all other family law related pleadings.
- Extensive preparation of Financial Affidavits, Mandatory Disclosures, and all other discovery requests and responses.
- Trial preparation.
- Preparation of family law calculations.
- Coordination of hearings, conferences, mediations, depositions, and other proceedings.
- Must have 5+ years of family law paralegal experience
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy needed to successfully manage multiple projects and tasks.
- Ability to reassure and calm clients while explaining the process to them.
- An understanding of child support guidelines, and spousal support guidelines.
- Consistently meet and exceeds monthly billable targets.
- Able to work independently.
- Exceptional customer service mindset.
