AboutThe Role
The Project Buyer is responsible for supporting procurement activities across Aegis' project portfolio. This role works closely with project managers, engineering, operations, and suppliers to ensure materials are purchased and delivered on time to support project execution. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn the components and supplier network that support Aegis' automation projects.
What You'll Do- Support procurement activities across multiple customer projects, ensuring materials are ordered and delivered according to project schedules
- Review bills of materials (BOMs), drawings, and project documentation to identify purchasing requirements
- Obtain vendor quotes, compare pricing, and create purchase orders
- Track open purchase orders and communicate delivery updates to project teams
- Coordinate with suppliers to confirm lead times, shipments, and order status
- Work closely with project management, engineering, logistics, and warehouse teams to support project execution
- Maintain accurate purchasing records within the ERP system
- Assist in identifying alternate suppliers when lead times or availability create project risks
- Support cost-saving initiatives through quote comparisons and vendor communications
- Adapt to changing project priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
- 2-5 years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, operations, or project coordination experience
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial equipment, construction, automation, distribution, or related industries preferred
- Ability to read and interpret bills of materials (BOMs) and technical documentation
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Experience working within an ERP system such as Microsoft Business Central, SAP, Epicor, or similar platforms
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to learn new product categories, suppliers, and procurement processes
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering Technology, or a related field
