Shipping/Receiving / Forklift Operator / Material Handler
General Function:
Supervises and directs all packing and shipping area operations. Coordinates packing of finished products for shipment to customers, maintains shipping schedules and inventory records.
Duties:
- Prepares work schedules for employees and directs daily activities in packing and shipping area.
- Assesses production rate to ensure that orders will be filled completely and shipped according to schedule.
- Trains new personnel.
- Evaluates packing material inventory and orders supplies as necessary.
- Post and files daily packing inventory control records.
- Oversees the packing of products by evaluating size, weight, and number of products to be packed, and durability of appropriate cartons.
- Keeps Production Control Manager informed of packing and shipping schedules and objectives to be met.
- Maintains a clean work area.
- Maintains inventory control of finished, packed products stored in warehouse.
- Provides recommendations for continuous improvement.

Working Conditions:
Works inside plant where there is a great deal of noise from presses. The work may be dusty, dirty and greasy. Handles sharp edged metal and is exposed to chemicals used in oil.
Physical Effort:
Works on a hard surface; stands, stoops, bends and lifts heavy objects (approximately 50 lbs.). Work involves continual movement of hands and arms.
Safety Equipment:
Wears safety shoes, glasses, gloves and ear plugs where required.
Qualification Requirements:
High School diploma and two (2) years of general college study; one
- more years of shipping and receiving experience; one (1) or more years in a leadership position in shipping and receiving or one (1) or more years supervisory experience.
Additional
Preferred Qualifications:
Three (3) or four (4) years of college or university education, preferring a BS degree in business administration; two (2) or more years experience in shipping and receiving at supervisory level.
