About the Role
The CNC Machinist V will lead the operation, programming, and optimization of manual and CNC machines to manufacture high‑precision aerospace components.
Responsibilities- Operator, program, and optimize CNC machines for aerospace parts.
- Lead advanced equipment setup and routine maintenance.
- Use precision measurement tools to verify tight tolerances.
- Enforce shop safety, PPE, and best‑practice protocols.
- Develop, maintain, and continually improve 5S, FOD, and ESD processes.
- Document machining operations, part inspections, and performance metrics.
- Diagnose and resolve complex machining issues.
- Mentor and train entry‑level, mid‑level, and senior machinists and apprentices.
- Participate in root‑cause analysis and corrective action activities.
- Lead cross‑functional teams to implement process improvements and new technologies.
- Act as subject‑matter expert on machining operations and best practices.
- 12+ years of related machining experience.
- Machinist or equivalent certification.
- Expert knowledge of shop safety, PPE, and best practices.
- Experience leading advanced equipment setup and maintenance.
- Proficiency with precision measurement tools and fixture fabrication for flight and non‑flight assemblies.
- Demonstrated leadership of 5S, FOD, and ESD processes.
- Extensive manufacturing or machining experience.
- Proficient in CNC programming languages (G‑code, M‑code).
- Advanced CAD/CAM knowledge for design and programming.
- Familiarity with multi‑axis CNC machines.
- In‑depth knowledge of aerospace‑grade alloys.
- Ability to interpret complex drawings and blueprints.
- Experience with advanced precision measurement instruments.
- Strong problem‑solving and detail orientation.
- Independent work and team collaboration skills.
- Excellent communication and learning adaptability.
- Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and quality methodologies.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
- Ability to perform complex machine repairs and adjustments.
- Familiarity with shop‑floor data collection systems.
- Proven training and mentoring experience.
- Leadership in cross‑functional team environments.
- Evaluation and recommendation of new machining technologies.
- Experience overseeing new machining process implementation.
- Subject‑matter expertise in machining operations.
Base pay range: $37.90 – $52.11 per hour. Final compensation is based on skills, experience, education, and market competitiveness.
