Job Description

BAE Systems is looking for a Weld Production Supervisor in our Louisville, KY facility to support our submarine product lines on the weekends 2nd shift (5:00 PM - 5:00 AM). This individual will be responsible for direct management of touch labor and for providing primary leadership to the production team for the assigned shift.

As a Weld Production Supervisor You Will:
  • Be the primary program point of contact for the assigned shift and provide leadership of day to day execution.
  • Oversee the overall manufacturing process to ensure schedule is achieved by working with manufacturing engineering, production planning, and quality control.
  • Plan and direct the activities of the manufacturing team and set clear expectations and goals to ensure focus on safety, quality, schedule and delivery.
  • Plan and organize production processes and availability of necessary resources.
  • Assess and apply measures, methods, and techniques designed to improve safety, product and process quality, efficiency, productivity, and equipment and process performance; recommend changes in working conditions and modification in machine tools and plant facilities.
  • Work proactively with the management team to ensure that site efforts and project initiatives are aligned with business needs and strategic direction.
  • Support and encourage a culture and an attitude with an emphasis on safety, and quality improvement.
  • Monitor financial performance of department to ensure targets are being met.

Minimum Education Required

High School/GED

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
  • Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with management and employees at all levels as well as customers, and suppliers.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform detailed data analysis, identify areas for improvement, and drive focused actions to initiate change.
  • Ability to lead teams and drive lean / continuous improvement culture.
  • Ability to understand, analyze, and resolve complex technical problems.
  • Ability to work independently and be effective in a fast paced environment.
  • Experience hosting audits in manufacturing environment, root cause and corrective action methods and project management for implementing new methodologies to resolve systemic issues.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to interpret drawings, work instructions, routings, etc.
  • Must be a US citizen and be capable of obtaining/maintaining a security clearance.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years or more of progressive work experience, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Assembly, Machining, and Weld/Fab
  • Experience working with a labor union
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing concepts
  • Experience with US Government contracts or Weapon Systems technologies
  • Experience interfacing with program offices
  • Six Sigma problem solving, if not Six Sigma, some experience with structured problem solving techniques (i.e.

    - 5 Whys, RCCA, etc.)
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $75254 - $127930

This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
