Join Our Louisville Team As A Mig Welder!

This role focuses on joining, fabricating, and repairing metal and other weldable materials using appropriate welding techniques. You interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, and schematics to select the correct welding process, prepare materials and equipment, and ensure that all completed welds meet structural and quality standards. The position may involve working with both manual and robotic welding equipment and completing apprenticeship or formal training in specialty welding areas as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable materials using MIG welding and related techniques.
  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, and shop drawings to determine the correct welding process and fabrication steps.
  • Inspect completed welds to verify structural soundness, quality, and adherence to specifications.
  • Prepare materials, fixtures, and work pieces for welding, including cutting, fitting, and positioning components.
  • Set up welding equipment and as needed, robotic devices to perform welding operations safely and efficiently.
  • Perform fabrication tasks such as fitting structures, grinding, and finishing welded assemblies.
  • Use hand tools including hammers, pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, drills, grinders, and banders to support welding and fabrication work.
  • Operate forklifts and cranes to move materials and assemblies, maintaining required equipment certifications.
  • Use measuring tools such as tape measures, box calipers, slide dial calipers, and micrometers to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Convert fractions to decimals and metric to English measurements to ensure accurate fabrication and layout.
  • Produce high-quality welds and fabricated components that meet company standards and customer requirements.
  • Set up and operate one or more processing machines as part of the fabrication and welding process.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area in a steel manufacturing environment.
  • Communicate effectively in conversational English to understand instructions, document work, and collaborate with team members.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in MIG welding on steel and other weldable materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Experience with fabrication, job setup, fitting, structural assembly, and grinding.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Relevant welding experience, apprenticeship, or vocational training preferred.
  • Ability to pass and maintain MIG welder certification.
  • Basic critical thinking skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and cranes and maintain required equipment certifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints accurately.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools such as hammers, pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, drills, grinders, and banders.
  • Ability to use measuring tools including tape measures, box calipers, slide dial calipers, and micrometers.
  • Ability to convert fractions to decimals and metric to English measurements.
  • Ability to produce consistently high-quality work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Capability to set up and operate one or more processing machines.
  • Ability to speak, write, and comprehend conversational English.
Work Environment

This position is based in a steel manufacturing and fabrication environment located in the heart of Louisville. The facility is non–temperature controlled, so you work in conditions that reflect seasonal weather. The role is a first-shift position, Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with a 30-minute lunch and two 10-minute breaks. When overtime is needed, it is typically scheduled on Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You work around heavy materials, welding equipment, fabrication machinery, forklifts, and cranes, following all safety procedures and wearing appropriate industrial work attire and protective gear suitable for a steel manufacturing environment.
