Plant Manager About the role

The client is looking for a hands-on Plant Manager to run the day-to-day operations of our manufacturing facility. This is not a desk job. The right person will spend most of their time on the production floor, working directly with supervisors and employees to keep production on schedule, remove bottlenecks, and ensure the plant runs efficiently.

• Own the daily production schedule for:
  • Door Department
  • Foam Rooms 2 & 3
  • Sheet Metal Department
• Make regular walk-throughs of the plant throughout the day to monitor production, identify issues, and keep departments on track.
• Work closely with supervisors and production teams to address bottlenecks, staffing challenges, equipment issues, and workflow problems.
• Ensure production targets are met while maintaining quality and safety standards.
• Track and manage key inventory items, including steel, foam, and other critical raw materials needed for production.
• Coordinate with purchasing and warehouse teams to ensure materials are available when needed.
• Schedule and follow up on maintenance work to keep equipment operating efficiently and minimize downtime.
• Respond quickly to issues on the production floor and help drive practical solutions.
• Support and enforce safe work practices throughout the facility.
• Lead by example and maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor.

• 5+ years of experience leading operations in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong understanding of production scheduling and plant workflow.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot production issues and improve efficiency.
• Comfortable working directly on the shop floor and managing multiple departments.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Experience managing inventory and coordinating maintenance activities.
• Ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
• Experience in sheet metal fabrication, insulated products manufacturing, refrigeration products, or related industrial manufacturing environments.
• Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience is a plus.
