Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a travel assignment at an academic medical center in Louisville, KY, requiring at least 2 years of OR experience and a KY or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in a high-acuity operating room environment at an academic medical center in Louisville, KY
- 31-OR suite on the 2nd floor of the facility
- Patient population includes neuro (spine/cranial, navigation), ortho (robotics/arthroscopic), thoracic and vascular (complex), transplant, and ENT/radical neck procedures
- 1:1 patient ratio
- Advanced surgical robotics in use, including Mako Robot, DaVinci SP & XI Robots, O-Arm, and Rosa Robot
- EMR:
Cerner - Day shift: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
- Saturday rotation every 6 weeks
- On-call requirement: at least 40 hours per 6-week period
- Float within the OR only — no cross-department floating
- 13-week contract
- Facility is a nationally recognized academic medical center known for numerous medical firsts, including pioneering hand, heart, kidney, and lung transplants
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Full COVID and flu vaccination required — no exceptions
- CPI training required for all RNs and may be completed onsite
- Gaps in work history of 3 months or more require a written explanation
- Candidates should be highly flexible, adaptable, and willing to expand their knowledge across multiple surgical service lines
- Active KY or compact RN license required, with a clean license history (no hits)
- Current AHA-issued BLS and NIHSS certifications required — certifications must not expire in the same month as the assignment start date
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience required; 3+ years preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Strong skills with high-acuity surgical patients preferred
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position
