Description:
A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients.
The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit and promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education supported by a Practice Governance framework.
The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members.
The RN has the responsibility to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care.
The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction.
The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring/precepting staff.
Job Responsibilities:
Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition.
Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions.
Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care and reviews and revises the plan as indicated.
Collaborates with patient/family and interdisciplinary services.
Utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patient, and family.
Monitors and documents response to clinical interventions.
Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient/family needs.
Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
Functions as a mentor/preceptor and demonstrates teamwork.
Identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement.
Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts.
Implements practice changes and complies with regulatory standards.
Participates in the Practice Governance model.
Required skills include patient assessment, independent decision-making, care planning, collaboration, and resource utilization.
Additional skills include clinical intervention monitoring, patient education, task delegation, mentoring, precepting, teamwork, process improvement, and regulatory compliance.
Required education includes a Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree (ASN).
Preferred certifications and licensure are not applicable.
Fluency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking, is required.
