Description:
A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients.
The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit.
The RN promotes his/her own development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education supported by a Practice Governance framework.
The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members.
The RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care.
The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction.
The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentorship/preceptorship of staff.
The RN performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition.
The RN demonstrates an ability to make sound independent decisions.
The RN initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care and reviews and revises the plan as indicated.
The RN collaborates with patient/family and interdisciplinary services.
The RN utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patient, and family.
The RN monitors and documents the response to clinical interventions.
The RN facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient/family needs and as appropriate during their stay and RN delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
The RN functions as a mentor/preceptor and demonstrates encourages/facilitates teamwork.
The RN identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement.
The RN participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implements practice changes.
The RN complies with regulatory standards and participates in the Practice Governance model.
