Position: Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) RN

Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)

Serves as a clinical operational liaison between the units and the Director of Nursing. Responsible for the daily clinical operations of the Nursing Units, ensuring compliance with center policies and procedures, practice standards, and regulations. Facilitates implementation of care delivery models and processes, mentors staff, coordinates and communicates with other departments, and ensures patient and family satisfaction. In the absence of the DON, assumes their duties and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Director of Nursing in managing the nursing department, including staffing, scheduling, and enforcing policies.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, participate in chart audits, and oversee infection control, care planning, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Hire, train, and conduct performance reviews while promoting professional growth and ensuring consistent, high‑quality care delivery.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clinical staff and patient families, addressing concerns and fostering a positive care environment.
  • Develop and communicate operational plans, ensuring alignment with the organization’s quality and safety goals.
Required Qualifications
  • Active R.N. license with a minimum of three years of nursing experience, including at least one year in a supervisory role; long‑term care or geriatric experience preferred.
  • BSN preferred, with proven skills in organizing and managing nursing services and personnel.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English; clerical ability to analyze reports and data.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification (as required by state regulations).
