The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) provides assessment, management, and outcome evaluation for patients in inpatient and outpatient settings. The APRN serves as a resource to educate patients, families, professional nurses, and staff; functions as a liaison between patient, family, and UofL Physicians staff; and participates in clinical research. The APRN should demonstrate an advanced level of medical and nursing knowledge, clinical and technical competency, sound clinical judgment, professionalism in interpersonal and general communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and take responsibility for ongoing professional development and competency validation.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive adult urologic care, including in-office procedures, multidisciplinary interaction, and resident/student interaction.
- Provide patient/family urologic education, such as catheter teaching.
- Provide inpatient rounding as needed.
- Communicate with providers and office staff via the electronic health records system (Epic) regarding patient care needs and management.
- Submit timely and accurate billing for services rendered.
- Complete office notes promptly.
- Serve as a resource for office staff and other healthcare team members.
- Actively participate in conferences and research activities in areas related to clinical specialty.
- Maintain compliance with all required training programs, professional growth, competency, and hospital privileges, licensures, and certifications.
- Other duties as assigned, which may include travel to outlying clinics/hospitals.
- Master of Nursing degree from an accredited institution.
- Current licensure in the state of Kentucky as an APRN.
- National certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, Emergency Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
- Current DEA certificate without restriction.
- CPR and BLS current.
- Current certification and licensure in the state of Kentucky as a Physician Assistant.
- Professional experience in a subspecialty is strongly preferred.
- Current ACLS/BLS required.
