Emergency Department is a 44‑bed, fast‑paced unit treating more than 150 patients per day. Cases include acute cardiovascular, neurovascular, general medical emergencies, traumatic injuries, and psychiatric patients. The department is a STEMI receiving center and a designated Primary Stroke Center. Patients range from neonates to geriatric patients. An extensive orientation program allows new graduates to work autonomously with a wide range of clinical specialties.
Teamwork and collaboration with a multidisciplinary group of professionals are emphasized.
Job Summary
Registered nurses implement the nursing process for each patient, regardless of age, and are responsible for care within the parameters of the Kentucky Nurse Practice Act. Nurses promote positive outcomes, quality of care, and participate in unit‑based and hospital shared‑governance councils. They collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, continuously develop professionally, and serve as role models for teaching and learning across the healthcare continuum.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Assessment
- Develop a plan of care
- Provide care according to policy and procedure
- Evaluate patient response to interventions
- Organize resources and information
- Lead and exhibit critical thinking
Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required
- Active Kentucky RN license
- BCLS required
- ACLS required
- PALS required
Work Experience and Education
Qualifications beyond the minimum requirements are preferred but not mandatory. New graduates with appropriate training and background are welcomed.
